We are celebrating Black History Month and there are many ways can learn and share. Mystic Seaport Museum is celebrating the achievements of Black Americans, like Antoine DeSant (c. 1816-1886), who was born at Boa Vista, Cape Verde Islands. DeSant went on whaling voyages out of New London in years 1832-1848, including several voyages aboard the whale ship Tuscarora. He later became a successful businessman in the city.
