#REDSKINS NAME CHANGE | DC's NFL team "formally reviewing" its name!

It's been a rough week for the DC NFL FOOTBALL team...

NIKE pulled all of their merch from their online store. The stadium sponsor, FEDEX, formally asked the team to change its name. Washington, DC, the city which used to host the team, which is now based in the Maryland suburbs outside of DC - and which trains about an hour outside of DC in rural Virginia, said they won't do a deal for the team to return to the District in a new stadium located near the team's former home of Robert F. Kennedy Stadium "as long as the team is named" after a less-than-flattering term used to describe Native Americans.

What's an NFL team owner to do?

Well, DANIEL SNYDER, the "Chief" of the DC NFL FRANCHISE, today announced the team will launch a "thorough review" of the name, considered by many to be derogatory.

In a statement, the millionaire owner said:

"This process allows the team to take into account not only the proud tradition and history of the franchise but also input from our alumni, the organization, sponsors, the National Football League and the local community it is proud to represent on and off the field."

What happens next? That's anyone's guess.

Last time this "heated up" the team paid some Indian tribes some sort of financial incentive, hosted them at the stadium, and some even performed a ritual blessing to bring the team "luck."

The team hasn't, at least, according to the win-loss column, been that lucky. But that might not have been the result of any 'curse' unless that 'curse' comes in the form of, say, maybe coaching or front office management.

And... the saga continues.
