This is Shontelle Our River Pet of the Week

This 2.5-year-old female cutie is a pit mix.

"Hey! I'm Shontelle! I'm a smart girl that would benefit from some training to keep my mind busy. I can be shy at first, but I get goofy and wiggly once I warm up. I love people, I love sniffing things, and I will probably love you too. At the moment I’m not allowed to be around other animals, but you can ask my friends here if that might be something I can do in the future. I came to the shelter with a bite from an unknown animal. To be extra super sure I’m healthy, I can’t be around any other animals until August. For more information about me and how to set up an appointment, email my friend Tara at tmanzer@mohawkhumane.org."

Shontelle is a part of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society's Hidden Gems Program. This means she has been available for over 100 days. During this time, Shontelle has gotten lots of individual attention by staff and volunteers. They know things that she likes, dislikes, and have been working on obedience with her. She has been at the shelter for the majority of her quarantine, so it will only need to be carried out for the last bit in her home. She will be a foster-to-adopt pet during this time in case any medical issues arise.
