The is Sputnik Our River Pet of the Week

Sputnik is a 3-year-old Pit Mix and wants to say hello!

"Greetings, I’m Sputnik! Unlike my satellite namesake, I’m pretty down to earth as long as I have a good routine and structure. I’d love to go to some training classes with you! I’m a smart and spunky fella who isn’t a huge fan of other dogs. Kids though? Maybe ones that know boundaries. I’ll be a great companion for someone who is active and can invest some time to help me learn at my pace. I’m ready to join your universe!"

Recognizing and Reporting Animal Cruelty

Join MHHS on Wednesday, April 26 from 5:30-6:30 pm for a session on Recognizing and Reporting Animal Cruelty, presented by MHHS Director of Humane Law Enforcement Andrew Fiumano. This program will help caring citizens understand what to look for, whether it be cruelty or neglect, and how to report suspected cases to the proper authorities in a safe, inconspicuous way.

Registration is required to attend and space is limited. A $10 suggested contribution is payable at the door. This event is hosted at MHHS in Menands and is wheelchair accessible.

MHHS and the Pride Center of the Capital Region are teaming up for the Pride Paw-rade on Sunday, April 30 from 11 am - 2 pm at MHHS.

It's a celebration of the animals we love in an environment that is safe and inclusive. The event features a pet parade and costume contest, food trucks, music, vendors and activities for kids. Registration for your proud pupper to march in the Paw-rade is $25, otherwise the event is free to attend. All people- and dog-friendly dogs are welcome and must be current on vaccinations.
