Is a tobacco ban a good idea? Honest thoughts from a smoker

Please don’t ban tobacco?

This is Jason and I don’t like to publicly admit that I am a smoker. I also use other tobacco products as well. It’s a habit that I picked up when I was 16 and haven’t really been able to kick it for longer and a few weeks.

I have always said the only way I’m going to quit is if they make it impossible to get. With the talk about how smokers are more prone to contract coronavirus and a potential state wide ban I thought maybe this is the time to quit.

I am down to my last pack that I bought from duty free from my trip to Cayman and debating if I’m strong enough to quit now, today, in a FEW HOURS!

I’m told regularly by people that I need to quit, I pay more for my health insurance, and the guilt I get from my parents, my family, my friends, and even my dentist or a regular thing I wouldn’t mind not hearing anymore and could achieve if I quit.

But the anxiety of quitting, not being able to have a smoke if I want one and dealing with that in addition to all of the other worries we have been forced to deal with over these past weeks is something I don’t know if I’m ready to handle.

Is that the drug talking?

Are you a smoker nervous about a ban on tobacco?

Do you think a ban is a good idea?
