Renee's Recipes: Homemade Artisan Bread! You can do this!

****Garlic cheesy bread instructions below recipe for bread!

We make this all the time!!! It's a crowd favorite!!! I first got the recipe from the Perfect Pear and have since added my own twist to this really great recipe!!

You will need:

3 cups water

4 1/2 tsp of yeast ( I use regular active yeast)

6 cups of all purpose flour or I use artisan bread flour - comes out fine either way

2 tsp salt

1 tbs sugar

6.75 quart Dutch oven that can go in your oven at 450 degrees!!

Here's what I do:

In a large glass bowl I combine the water, yeast, salt & sugar. Mix well with a whisk.

Add the flour - BUT DON'T USE THE WHISK! Use a wooden spoon, or rubber mixing spoon, or dough mixer. You just want to blend it, don't over do it and it will be sticky.

COVER with saran wrap and a dish towel. Put it on the counter or or table and forget it for minimum 4 hours up to 24 hours!

When you are ready to bake the bread, here's what I do:

Get a sheet pan out and put parchment paper down and sprinkle with flour.

Use your dough scraper to get the dough out of the bowl and onto the parchment paper. You'll want to fold it over and get it into as best a ball shape as possible - don't over mix!

cover with a CLEAN dish towel and this part is up to you.....this is what I do:

I let it rise again for about 30 minutes. THEN I take my dutch oven and put it in my oven and preheat it at 450 degrees.

After another 30 minutes I take out the uncovered dutch oven, POT HOLDERS NEEDED, lol - I then lift the parchment paper and dough all in one shot and put in the dutch oven.

I drizzle olive oil over the top of the dough, cover, return to oven and bake for 45 minutes.

After 45 minutes, remove cover and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove from oven and lift out carefully with parchment paper to a heat safe surface, cover with towel and let sit for at least an hour before cutting into this DELISH bread. That's the hardest part...WAITING!!!

GARLIC CHEESY BREAD RECIPE

Here's what I do, once the bread has completely cooled - about an hour or more.

Here's what you'll need:

Good size loaf of bread, I use my bread - but you can certainly buy a loaf.

2 tbs minced garlic - OR you can use garlic powder - but I don't think it comes out as good.

Two kinds of cheese: I use shredded Cheddar and mozzarella - Use as much to your liking - WARNING don't over do it - gooey is good - but if you put too much on, it will over power the bread.

A good handful of fresh chopped parsley

About a half stick of butter - I use salted - up to you

Extra Virgin Olive Oil - about 1 to 2 tbs

Salt and Pepper to taste

No-Stick Aluminum Foil

Parchment paper lined baking sheet. (Tip, put foil underneath the parchment paper for less mess!)

Here's what you do:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Slice your bread, but not all the way through, thick slices are best. Cut almost all the way down but leave about an inch for support.

Mix cheese, garlic, slat, pepper and a drizzle of oil in a bowl - then transfer the mixture a little at a time in the slots you made in the bread.

Put a little pat of butter in each slot.

Finish by drizzling a little more oil over the whole top - don't over do it!!

Wrap the bread completely in Non Stick Foil - BE SURE YOU USE NON STICK FOIL

Bake in oven for about 20 minutes - unwrap bread - put back in oven for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, watching so you don't burn the bread.
