For this week's Wedding Wednesday, it's really a blog for anyone for any event, or just when you want a little bit of color.... this week, we're talking sun protection and sunless products.
This is a huge topic personally because unfortunately, skin cancer runs in my family. I had my spots checked for the first time last year, and I had to have a couple removed. Luckily, everything turned out to be ok. It was a BIG wake up call because I had worked at a tanning salon for 5 years, and I took full advantage of the free tanning. I never took care of my skin outside either... SPF? Pffff... forget about it! Now, I carry a smaller bottle in my bag at all times of SPF30, and all of my make up has at least SPF20 in it (Bare Minerals.... my fav!).
Prior to our wedding, I had spots on my face reduced with a laser. I just didn't love how my skin looked with the sun spots I had given myself. I do love some of my freckles (what my mom likes to call my "beauty marks"... she's very sweet) I've had since just about birth... lets not get it twisted! But my skin was looking a little dull, and I wanted to do something about it. It worked out great! I've also used Rodan & Fields' Reverse line (their Unblemish line is amazing too!) on not only my face, but my hands as well.
There are so many great sunless products out there too! Again, from Rodan & Fields, I swear by their Foaming Sunless Tan. It gives me great color, AND my face doesn't break out. On my body, I love that Jergens lotion too... personally, I've found it makes my face break out a little (even the special facial kind) but I also have very sensitive skin.
I also love me a good spray tan... I've tried VersaSpa, Mystic Tan, and actually having someone do it with the gun. I like all of them, but I tend to do the lightest level to get the most natural look.
Glamour posted this article too on sunless tanners from Sephora that work well, but I haven't used any of them (yet).
And speaking of Sephora.... they sent out an email awhile back with this awesome package for only $32 with sunless products, AND $20 from each purchase went to the Skin Cancer Foundation. LOVE that they do this, and I'm sad that I missed out on buying this!
So today... lets go over it. WEAR sunscreen. Oh, there's an overcast today? DON'T CARE... PUT IT ON! Trust your old pal here on this one. And being pale is still beautiful... look at Katy Perry and that porcelain skin of hers. But when you do want a little color, I hope this article helps you out with some suggestions.
Are you a big fan of the sunless tanners? What are your favorite ones to use?
