Sad news for movie fans and those working in the industry. Regal Cinemas made the announcement today (October 5, 2020) that on Thursday October 8th they will be suspending operations at all their theaters until further notice.
They posted the following message on their social media:
In response to an increasingly challenging theatrical landscape and sustained key market closures, Regal will suspend operations at all theaters at close of business Thursday October 8, 2020 until further notice.
I knew that the movie theater business was hit rather hard because of the COVID-19 pandemic but this is just heartbreaking. Think of how many folks will be out of a job because of this.
Most major films have pushed their scheduled fall and winter releases to the spring and some movies have opted for at home on-demand releases. Here's hoping things get better and we can start going to the movies again soon.
