Here's How Much Coffee You Should Drink a Day

I love coffee. It is one of my favorite things ever.

Since we've all been working from home for a while now I think that I have been drinking a lot more coffee than I would when working at the office. I know I can't be the only one.

It's so easy to just put on a whole pot and drink it throughout the morning as I sort through various items getting my day in order. But am I consuming too much coffee?

I decided to check into it and it turns out I might be on the high end of coffee drinking. According to HealthLine the average healthy adult can consume 400mg of caffeine daily. Some sources say other adults can consume more than that without any significant issues. I think we all know that caffeine has varying effects on all of us, so I'd use your own judgement there.

What does 400mg of coffee look like? A single cup of regular homebrewed coffee likely has about 100mg of caffeine. So four cups at home is probably safe. However a 16 ounce cup from Starbucks could have 300mg or higher.

Like I said before, I've been working from home since March and sometimes I'll even drink coffee at night. I think I start to decrease my intake as caffeine can be in other sources as well.
