Severe Weather Expected In Much of the Capital Region Today

While we've been enjoying a string of nice days here in the Capital Region the heat and humidity is starting to catch up to us with some severe weather happening today. We're currently under a heat advisory, which means heat index values are going to be between 95-100 degrees.

From Accuweather:

* WHAT...Heat index values between 95 and 100 degrees are expected.

* WHERE....The Hudson and Mohawk River Valley.

* WHEN...From noon to 8 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Not only is the heat advisory an issue but severe thunderstorms are expected throughout the Capital Region today. As you can see from the below weather map from a National Weather Service our entire area will be affected.
