Some very big news to report on this Sunday! Just a few days after learning that the New York State PAUSE was extended for the Capital Region and other areas until we met reopening metrics the Governor has said that we can in fact begin the Phase One process here in the Capital Region.
Also now able to begin reopening is Western New York.
How did it all change so quickly?
They adjusted the metrics and now our two areas just need to improve testing and tracing.
Here's what Cuomo had to say according to WCBS 880:
"There's been a shift in the Capital region and in Western New York," Cuomo said. "Where on the seven metrics, on the metrics they are qualified for reopening. There is still a need to increase tracing—the number of people who are prepared to do tracing. That is a pure administrative function. We will be working with the Capital region and Western New York to get that tracing up."
Now there are only three areas that are not able to reopen yet - Mid-Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island. Here's hoping they get some positive news in the coming days, too!
