The World Needs A Third Disney Family Singalong and Here's Why

When they announced the first Disney Family Singalong I was super excited. I honestly didn't know what to expect out of it. As a huge Disnerd I knew that no matter what I would be tuned in.

I was not disappointed at all. They brought out some big stars and performed some of the most memorable and most fun Disney songs that you can think of. Under the Sea, I Won't Say I'm I Love, Wanna Be Like You, Make a Man Out Of You, and the list goes on.

So when they said they would be doing a second Singalong special my family and I were super excited.

Listen, I don't want to sound greedy and I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but I just wasn't as impressed with the song selection of this second volume. Even my three-year-old son looked at me and said "This is boring" when John Legend and Jennifer Hudson did their version of Beauty and the Beast.

I will be clear - I am not knocking the singing ability or performance of any of the celebrities. I am just saying that instead of choosing fun songs they just chose songs. Does that make sense? It makes sense to me and I think that's what really matters.

The worst one was Katy Perry singing Baby of Mine from Dumbo. What a snoozer.

On the first special we had Michael Buble and Demi Lovato close out the show with A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes. CLASSIC! On this second one Sabrina Carpenter sang a very forgettable song from Peter Pan called Your Mother and Mine. What? That was the closer? I know it was for Mother's Day, but come on guys.

If anyone from Disney is reading this I have a few suggestions for songs for the upcoming third special:

  • You're Welcome (Please get Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to sing this please?) - Moana
  • The Mob Song - Beauty and the Beast
  • Prince Ali - Aladdin
  • I Just Can't Wait To Be King - The Lion King
  • I've Got A Dream - Tangled
  • Go the Distance - Hercules
  • Into the Unknown - Frozen II
  • Whistle Stop - Robin Hood

Disney, this is now in your hands. Do what is right.
