I don't live in the city of Albany but I know that one of the perks was always that trash service was free. Right now multi-family units have to pay $156 fee for trash service in the city o Albany, but single family homes do not.
Looks like that could be changing.
The Times Union reports that homeowners in Albany will have to pay a $90 annual fee as aprt of Mayor Kathy Sheehan's proposed budget plan.
For comparison, I pay around $60 every few months for my trash service where I live in Selkirk. However my taxes are significantly lower than those who like in the City. Another fee on top of already high taxes are surely going to raise some issues in the community.
