It's the end of an era. The company that makes Necco Wafers, New England Confectionery Co., the oldest continuously operating candy company, might shut down its Revere, Mass., plant and lay off the majority of its employees. Are you a fan of Necco Wafers? If so you better get them while you can because if the current owners of the plant in Revere, MA can't find a buyer for their plant they're going shut it down on May 6th.
With that date fast approaching people are now buying up all the Necco Wafers they can get their hands on, according to WPRI.
Not only does Necco make the signature wafers but they also make the little valentine's day candy hearts.
If the plant does shutdown not only will we be without Necco Wafers for the rest of our lives but the nearly 400 workers at the plant will lose their jobs and that's just not cool.
