Joanna Carson, the third wife of legendary late Tonight Show host Johnny Carson, has died at the age of 93.

The former model's death was previously announced by The Elizabeth Taylor AIDs Foundation on July 30 and a private funeral was held last week, according to Extra, which cited "friends online."

"Remembering ETAF's dear friends and supporters, Joanna Carson and Wallis Annenberg, who embodied our Founder, Elizabeth Taylor's spirit of love and support," The Elizabeth Taylor AIDs Foundation wrote on its Facebook account.

Joanna and Johnny Carson were married from 1972 to 1985, following his previous marriages to Jody Morrill Wolcott (1949 to 1963) and Joanne Copeland (1963 to 1972). The longtime Tonight Show host married Alexis Maas in 1987, whom he was with until his death in 2005.

Joanna was one of New York City's top fashion models when she first met Johnny at a restaurant in 1971, several years after divorcing her first husband Tim Holland, the father of her son, actor Joe Holland, who died in 1994. Johnny announced his marriage to Joanna while celebrating his 10th anniversary as the Tonight Show's host in 1972, according to an article published by the New Yorker in 1978.

The couple ultimately reached a $20 million settlement as part of their divorce following 10 years of marriage. Joanna's death came weeks after news of Johnny's son, Christopher Carson, whom he shared with his first wife, had died earlier this year.
