'Parade Of Snowstorms' Expected To Move Through Eastern U.S.

The Eastern United States is expected to be hit by several snowstorms over the next few days.

Three snowstorms are expected to hit Washington D.C., several areas north along the East Coast and the northeast between Friday (February 12) and Tuesday (February 16,) the Washington Post reports.

A system is expected to move out of the Ohio Valley on Friday and bring freezing race and ice across the central Appalachian Mountains before making its way south of Washington D.C.

Another storm is expected to move north up the East Coast overnight Saturday (February 13) and early Sunday (February 14) morning, but it's not clear whether it will include rain, sleet, snow or a mixture of frigid weather.

A third storm is expected to hit the Northeast, which is expected to move through New York, Boston and other areas on Monday (February 15) and Tuesday (February 16,) according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to be 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit in the central U.S., which has already been hit by snow this week, while the northeast is expected to be around 10 to 15 degrees lower throughout the next week.

“The core of the Arctic air is just sitting over the north central U.S.,” said Dan Pydynowski, a meteorologist with AccuWeather Inc, via the Washington Post. “It will be diving southward down the Plains all the way right into Texas and the Gulf Coast by early next week.”
