This summer Saratoga will be a much different place for fans of horse racing. Due to the coronavirus spectators will not be allowed and to further enforce that they are now installing privacy fences around the perimeter of the track.
The Daily Gazette reports:
Concerned about crowds milling about on the Union and Nelson avenue sidewalks when the 152nd meet opens on Thursday, Saratoga Springs officials recommended that "temporary privacy fencing" be draped along the metal fences around the track, blocking the view inside.
NYRA is now installing plastic sheeting on the fences to discourage fans from camping on the streets outside to watch the events at the track.
The current NYS health guidelines would not permit a gathering like that so the City of Saratoga is trying to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19.
