If you were wondering if schools would be opening in the fall the Governor provided some much needed good news today. The answer is yes, but there are certain criteria that will need to be met.

During his press briefing today (July 13, 2020) Cuomo said that schools in phase four regions can reopen as long as the daily infection rate remains at 5% or lower for 14 days. School will close if regional infection rate goes over 9% for a seven day average. He is calling that his red light/green light system.

Schools will need to submit their reopening plans and by the first week of August the state will make their decision on whether or not they will open for the fall. They will continue to monitor them throughout August to make sure the numbers don't increase.

If you want schools to open keep doing what we're supposed to do. Wear your mask, practice social distancing, and be safe.
