Happy National Pancake Day. I think we should celebrate all week, but that is just me. Truth be told my wife is the pancake maker in our house. I'm the bacon & eggs guy. OK it's microwave bacon, but it's still real bacon.
I saw some pancake facts today including the following:
- The first pancakes date back 12,000 years and they were made on a hot rock. Yum
- The first pancake recipe was in a book in England in the 1400s
- The first time the expression "flat as a pancake" was used in 1611. Not idea who said it, but nice job
- Aunt Jemima pancake flour was the first ready-mix food sold. That started in 1889
OK now onto this "flat as a pancake thing". That is fine and all, but it doesn't work with the term "fluffy pancakes". Let's put the box of Aunt Jemima or Bisquick away for a minute and try to make "fluffy " pancakes. Who's up for a Saturday morning challenge?
