When I was a kid, I was obsessed with ET. I loved the movie! I collected ET products and had a stuffed ET doll that I took everywhere (even made clothes for it). Naturally, my mother was thrilled when she found the new ET video game one Christmas for my also new-that-year, Atari.
I was so excited and played with it often, but clearly remember that I could never quite figure it out. I have a vague recollection of ET falling into a ditch and always aborting the game at that point, never succeeding in getting him out.
Come to find out today that the ET Atari Game ranks number 3 on the biggest product failures of all time! Major reason? It was too darned hard! Okay, I feel a little better now.
