With BTS' arrival at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday (November 14), the Korean Invasion is officially here.
The K-pop act's first performance at a stateside award show is coming up at this weekend’s American Music Awards, ahead of which BTS is in for a big week that will see them introduced to US audiences in a way they’ve never been before.
Beginning Tuesday, the boy band has confirmed that will appear on multiple American television shows. They’ll kick things off with a performance at The Late Late Show today, announced just a day before. Wednesday will see them hold an outdoor mini-concert for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, while they’ll record with the studio audience on November 20.
BTS will also grace daytime television with a stop at the Ellen Degeneres Show next Tuesday (November 21), with the taping planned for a November 27 air date.
Tickets for all recordings were picked up by BTS’ fan ARMY immediately upon news of each taping.
Nestled in between the talk show shoots, BTS will perform its new single "DNA" on American television for the first time at the AMAs. (Last month the song peaked at No. 67 on the Hot 100, making it the highest ranked K-pop song by a boy band ever.) They join a lineup that includes Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, P!NK and more.
BTS' trip to the U.S. will be followed by the release of their highly anticipated remix of "Mic Drop," produced by Steve Aoki and featuring Desiigner, on Nov. 24, the day after Thanksgiving.
As the first K-pop group to have an album chart in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, BTS has dominated the boy band scene this year. Their arrival in Los Angeles was greeted by a viral hashtag proclaiming “#WelcomeToUSBTS,” raking up well over 100,000 uses in a matter of hours.
