Do You Hand Out Candy Or Just Leave The Bowl?

This year will be the first year in our house that we won't be there to hand out candy to the neighborhood kids. Mostly because my wife and I will be taking our 15 month old son, Logan, out to Trick or Treat for the first time.

He's pretty excited to be Elmo (or as he calls him, "Melmo").

Now I don't want to cheat the other kids in the neighborhood out of a house that could have candy. Not to toot my own horn, but we give out pretty good candy.

So here's my dilemma - should I just not give out candy at all this year while we take the little one out? Maybe I should just leave a big bowl out on the porch and trust that people will jsut take one piece of candy?
