NWS confrims 5 tornadoes hit NY on Tuesday

Now it's five.

The National Weather Service confirming that five tornadoes touched down in upstate New York during severe storms that killed four people on Tuesday.

The worst devastation was in the town of Smithfield, between Utica and Syracuse.  Four people were killed and several homes were destroyed or damaged.  

Meteorologists say twisters also touched down in North Creek in the Adirondacks, in Lowville east of the Tug Hill Plateau in Lewis County, in Deerfield south of Utica and in New London, just west of Rome.  Dozens of trees and power lines were knocked down in those areas.
