There will be single lane closures on Route 9 (Loudon Road) as it approaches and goes under Latham Circle beginning this week. The NYS DOT says the lane closures are necessary to complete drainage work and then repave this stretch of road under a project that began last year to rehabilitate Latham Circle. The work is expected to last into July.
A single lane is scheduled to be closed around the clock on Route 9 southbound approaching and underneath the circle. This closure is expected to be in place until mid-April. After that time, a single lane will be closed on Route 9 northbound in the same vicinity.
Starting in late April, a single lane will be closed on Route 9 in both directions approaching and underneath Latham Circle until work is completed, which is expected to occur in mid-July.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license. It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through this construction zone, for their own safety and the safety of workers.
