Greenwich votes to keep village intact

Posted June 25th, 2014 @ 8:29am by 810 & 103.1 WGY

The Village of Greenwich has survived an effort to dissolve it and become part of the town in Washington County.

The vote was fairly close, with 281 residents voting against dissolution, 203 for it. That amounts to 48 percent who wanted to consolidate.

Supporters say the move would have meant paying hundreds of dollars less in property taxes, though town rates likely would have risen.
