Two Albany police officers are credited with saving two women during Tuesday's flooding.

Officer Steven Smith says the women - one of them being 6 months pregnant - had to be carried from their submerged vehicle to higher ground in the area of Hackett and Holland.  Neither of the women knows how to swim. 

The officers, Christopher Stiles and Philip Durand, are among many emergency personal who helped keep people safe during the flash flood.  According to police, they received over 500 calls related to the storm.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan is declaring a state of emergency after 2 1/2 inches of rain fell in less than an hour.
